Let's learn more about rocks!
Geology is the study of the Earth. It includes both the history of the earth as well as the science relating to how the earth was formed and how it is constantly changing. An individual who studies the Earth is called a Geologist.
Petrology is a branch of geology that focuses on the study of rocks and how they are formed. In Petrology, rocks are identified by how they are formed. The three types of rocks are igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary. Find out more about The Types of Rocks by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.
Mineralogy is another branch of geology. Mineralogy is the study of the properties, occurrences, associations and uses of minerals. It is a very important topic to study because most of the items around you come from minerals. Now that we have looked into some of the general areas of study relating to rocks and minerals, let’s dig deeper.
